David Lam, Ph. D. - Venture Partner

David Lam is a Venture Partner at DynaFund. David’s focus is on semiconductor processing technologies, optical components and Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS). David sits on the boards of Microfabrica, Multibeam and Teseda.
Previously, Dr. Lam founded Lam Research (NASDAQ: LRCX) in 1980. Under his guidance, the company introduced the industry's first fully automated plasma etching system for semiconductor manufacturing. Lam Research went public in 1984 and has since become a global leader in semiconductor capital equipment. Dr. Lam also served as CEO of Caliper Technologies (NASDAQ: CALP), a biotechnology company focused on lab-on-a chip technologies that went public in 2000. Over the past several years, Dr. Lam has used his experience and expertise to assist emerging technology companies in the fields of semiconductor chips and equipment, computer hardware and software, biotech, networking and communications. Dr. Lam also serves on the board of Integrated Telecom Express (NASDAQ: ITXI) and other privately held companies.
In addition to his corporate experience, Dr. Lam was appointed by former President George Bush to serve on the U.S. Commission on Minority Business Development, and by California Chief Justice Malcolm Lucas to serve on the Commission on the Future of the Courts. He also served on the Visiting Committee of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is a Director of the Committee of 100 and a Governor of the National Conference for Community and Justice. Dr. Lam graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics, and holds master's and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
